We often think about what our children are going to have for snacks, but what about mama?!? Here are my current five favorites for my own snack time!
The moment I get Emily down for her nap my first thought is “snack time!” Lunchtime can often be hectic and I don’t always have time to eat a full meal. That’s okay though because then I can have one of these yummy snacks once Emily’s asleep.
Here my current five favorites when it comes to snack time for me!
Fancy Cheese & Crackers
This is my new favorite! It’s somewhat unexpected, but oh so good. I take some wheat crackers, like Wheat Thins, top with a small dallop of cream cheese and then another dallop of jam. My current favorite jam is the Blueberry Muffin flavor from Urban Spreads. It almost takes like cheesecake, but much lower in calories!
Pretzels or Veggies with Hummus
You can make your own hummus (recipe here) or get it at the store. My favorite store brand is Sabra. Carrots, cucumber slices or celery sticks keep this snack a little lower in calories, but I just love pretzels or pita chips for the saltiness and crunch!
Apples Slices with Peanut Butter Dip
I love apple slices with peanut butter, but in order to keep it lower in calories I mix the peanut butter with some yogurt. Just mix 1 tsp. peanut butter with 2 Tbs. plain Greek yogurt. I use a fork to help mix it up better. Dip apple slices in PB dip and enjoy!
I have so many smoothie recipes on the blog! What’s your favorite? I’m pretty much happy with any type of smoothie – the sweet fruit, creamy yogurt and maybe a handful of spinach all scream YUM! Smoothies make an easy, healthy and filling treat no matter the time of year. Here’s a link to a smoothie article I wrote for Columbus Moms Blog! You can also search “smoothie” here on my blog for more ideas.
Yogurt with Berries and Granola
This is what I snack on several days a week. I love the creaminess of the yogurt with the sweetness of the berries and crunch of the granola! You can use whatever type of yogurt of granola you like. My favorite yogurts are currently Fage 2% or Stoneyfield Light Vanilla yogurt. Also, here is my homemade granola recipe!
Do you have a favorite nap-time snack? If so, I’d love for you to share it with me 🙂
