PB + Banana Overnight Oats are the easiest way to keep your breakfast healthy and delicious when you know you’re going to have a busy morning!
If you follow my blog regularly, you’ll know how much I love oatmeal.
I have it for breakfast probably 5-6 out of 7 mornings, each week. I don’t just love it for its health factor either, although that is one plus! I’m always trying to come up with new varieties to keep things interesting. Even though I’ve made overnight oats for a while, this is actually the first time I’m sharing one here.
My apologies for taking so long!
Even though regular oatmeal is really easy to make in the morning, I usually make it the night before to make things just a little easier on me 🙂 With Emily running around these days, I sometimes can’t take my eyes off her for one second or she’ll be playing in the dog water bowl!
When I’m not in the mood to make oatmeal at night for the next morning, I make over night oats. They literally take seconds to make and still keep me on the healthy eating bandwagon in the morning!
All you pretty much do is add oats to milk and let them sit over night. Add in some flavorings and you’re good to go. There are a million and one (really) ways to customize them for whatever you’re in the mood for. PB + Banana happens to be one of my all time favorite flavor combos, so that’s what I’m sharing today.
Oh and in the morning, you can heat it up or just leave it on the counter for a few minutes to come to room temperature, whatever floats your boat. I happen to like having mine warmed a little bit and then adding on a few additional toppings, like in the recipe below. However you like to customize it, you’re guaranteed to have a filling and healthy breakfast to start your day!
Next time you know you’ll have a hectic morning (and what morning isn’t?) make these overnight oats the night before and breakfast in the morning will be a breeze! You trust me, right?
- ½ cup old fashioned oats
- ½ cup milk (2 % preferred)
- 2 tsp. peanut butter
- ½ banana, sliced
- Add oats and milk to a mason jar or small tupperware container. Whisk in the peanut butter. A few pb lumps are okay. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, top with banana slices and enjoy! Alternatively, you can microwave it prior to adding the banana slices if you prefer it warm
