With Labor Day now behind us, it may seem like summer’s winding down, but it’s still hot enough outside to enjoy this cool, creamy and refreshing Orange Creamsicle Smoothie!
Ah summertime… I love your warm weather and sunny days and the feeling you’re without a care in the world. Even though I’m no longer in school to have that lovely 3-month summer break, which made summer the best season in the world, it’s still one of my favorite times of the year. There’s just something about it which makes me feel carefree. The rain of spring is long gone and there’s still time before the jacket weather of fall and snow of winter comes.
It’s sad that summer is starting to come to an end, but there are still plenty of warm days left to make this smoothie, sit outside in the sun and enjoy the last few sun rays of the season!
This smoothie will take you right back to the first days of summer. It’s flavors are creamy, fresh and bright. I love that tart flavor of orange, don’t you? When you add in the creaminess and tang of the vanilla yogurt, it’s one of my favorite smoothie combinations.
As with most smoothie recipes, it’s super easy to make. The only time consuming part is that you need to let your orange juice freeze in an ice cube tray, which takes a couple of hours. However, once your OJ cubes are frozen, just throw them in the blender with some vanilla yogurt, vanilla extract and a few tablespoons of milk and you’re done! Super easy, right?
This would even be great for the kids to help make. I know once Emily’s just a little bit older, I fully intend to have her right by me in the kitchen. I’m so excited for her to start “helping” me out even though I’m sure it’s going to be a complete mess 🙂
She already loves to watch Kevin and I cook. Whenever I’ve got the mixer out or Kevin’s making something like eggs on the stovetop, she just seems in awe of what’s going on. For those of you with children, what kind of things to do you like to make with them in the kitchen?
I’m just going to stop rambling now so you can get to the kitchen and start freezing some OJ cubes to make this smoothie! It’s really such a great treat to enjoy on what may be some of the last warm days of summer. Cheers to some happy smoothie sipping!
