Stovetop Cinnamon Applesauce
Serves: 4 cups
Have you recently gone apple picking and need some recipes to use them in? This quick and easy Stovetop Cinnamon Applesauce will take 3lbs and make for a delicious side dish, snack or dessert!
  • 8 Macintosh apples (about 3lbs.), washed, peeled and cored
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  1. After washing, peeling and coring the apples, cut them into quarters and then place in a large pan - a ceramic dutch oven is preferred
  2. Add in the cinnamon, brown sugar and stir. Then add the water and stir again.
  3. Place the pan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Once it boils, reduce the heat to low, cover and cook for about 20 minutes or until apples are soft and starting to fall apart. I gave it a good stir at the 10 minute mark.
If you use another type of apple than Macintosh, you may need to increase/decrease the cooking time and increase/decrease the amount of sugar as each apple variety has a different texture and sugar content.
