Traditional Hummus
Serves: 1½ cups
This Traditional Hummus recipe is so good and easy to make, that you can forget picking any up from the store this week!
  • 1 (15 oz) can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained (liquid reserved)
  • ¼ cup tahini (well stirred)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 Tbs lemon juice (about ½ lemon)
  • ½ - ¾ tsp salt
  1. Combine drained garbanzos, tahini, garlic and lemon juice together a food processor and process until it's well combined.
  2. Slowly add ¼ cup of the reserved garbanzo bean liquid. If you want it smoother, slowly add more until it reaches your desired consistency. I used about ¼ cup + 2 Tbs.
  3. Taste and add salt, if needed. I used just over ½ tsp. If you're serving it with something salty, like crackers you may want less salt. If you're serving it with something like veggies or pita bread, you may want closer to ¾ tsp.
  4. Enjoy with pita bread, veggies, crackers or pretzels
